Coming up soon are the PILLIGA TAG-ALONG TOURS, May 7th-10th and June 4th-7th 2021. Join the hundreds who have explored the Pilliga on Pat’s Tag-along Tours. They give you a chance to see our largest temperate forest in Eastern Australia (which is under attack from Santos’ Narrabri Gas Project).
See the beauty of rugged Pilliga, it’s been described by a Coonabarabran local as a house with many rooms, all different. From Sandy Bohena Creek to the widely varied ecological patterns of the diverse and exquisite flora. Other destinations like Narrabri’s Yarrie Lake, a pristine inland lake threatened by potential encroachment of coal seam gas wells, the healing bore bath at Pilliga town and the Salt Caves in the National Park where we will climb the Fire Tower if you are game! And how can we forget the billion stars in the night skies!
Your guide is the legendary forest advocate Pat Schultz, who has personally introduced so many people to the Pilliga.

Pat is also the founding chairperson of the Wando Conservation and Cultural Centre Inc, which is a legacy of the historic Leard Forest Blockade in which over 400 people were arrested trying to protect the Leard Forest from open cut coal mining.The Pilliga Tag-Along tours have been life-changing for many, who saw with their own eyes the ecological vandalism against Gomeroi ancestral land already underway by the gas industry.
You will see the beauty – but also the damage and destruction wrought by Santos Ltd and its predecessor Eastern Star Gas.
The tour starts off with a night at Pilliga Bore Bath, a natural hot mineral bore bath located near the village of Pilliga. We will then wind our way to the final rest stop, Pilliga Pottery. Pilliga Pottery is a well-known eco-destination, and bastion of Pilliga protection.
