Whitehaven Coal is seeking approval for the Vickery Extension Project, an open cut mine, 25km north of Gunnedah. The NSW Department of Planning’s final assessment says the project is “approvable.”

Narrabri – underground – 17km south east of Narrabri – operating since 2012

Tarrawonga – open cut – 16km northeast of Boggabri – operating since 2006

Werris Creek – open cut – 4km south of Werris Creek, 15km north of Quirindi – operating since 2005
