Dr Shay Dougall (The University of Sydney) is a Postdoctoral Research Associate and practitioner working at the intersection of rural geography, work health and safety, project governance and regional energy development. Her research focuses on the experiences and capacities of farming communities hosting large-scale energy and resource projects, with particular attention to cumulative impacts, institutional fragmentation and emerging forms of shared workplace risk. Drawing on extensive applied experience with host farmers in regional Queensland, she is interested in how place-based knowledge can contribute to more just, effective and locally responsive approaches to regional decarbonisation and transition. Shay is a Postdoctoral Research Associate as part of the Future of Australia’s Industrial Regions ARC Laureate Project based in ADP.
