Northwest Protection Advocacy was recently invited on a field trip to the Queensland Gasfields to document and observe a thermal imaging methane leak investigation. The area focused on was to the south of Chinchilla.

Multiple leak and release events were witnessed which have been documented in the media, we wrote about these leaks and releases here.

We spent a few days observing and witnessing what appears to be the second wind of the gas industry in this area.

Infill drilling, the building of new dams and ponds to store the waste. New pipeline construction in the Condamine State Forest and an innovative, unproven carbon sequestration initiative by Shell in the Kumbarilla State Forest.

We would like to thank CATF, ACF and Sunrise for the opportunity to be part of this investigation.
